Shankha nada (Kannada: {{{1}}}) is a Kannada film directed and produced by Umesh Kulkarni. The film was released in the year 1986 starring = Aravind, Ramesh Bhat, Abhinaya, Honnaiah, Anjanappain lead roles. [1] [2]

STORY

Its a kind of offbeat non-mainstream movie. The movie's protagonist is a village beggar or the one who collects alms in the name of God by singing devotional songs. The one who goes from house to house begging alms striking a brass bell. he arrives at the village of Sampige and finds himself elected chairman of the village panchayat because of the in-fighting between rival factions. The upper caste rivals won't co-operate with him so he launches a Gandhi-style fast. At the next elections he recruits the joint mistress of the two rivals as a candidate and she becomes the new chairperson. This guy inadvertently also becomes a village panchayat president and looses the popularity among the villagers. To the extent that the presidentship starts affecting his daily livelihood (receiving alms).
